Matebeleland North – Zimbabwe

SUPPORT FOCUS: Ranger Empowerment & Veterinary Work In 2009 & 2010 the IAPF provided basic and intermediate training for rangers stationed within Victoria Falls National Park. The team of 26 rangers underwent integrated training over 8 months. Basic field equipment was donated as part of the training as well as life saving medical kits. 2 combat medical courses were conducted in 2012/13. For the wildlife research labouratory, donated equipment from Australia was sent to the Trust. Much needed veterinary equipment such a brand new binocular microscope and surgical supplies were donated in 2011. The Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance and promote environmental conservation in Southern Africa through hands-on wildlife research; management of a wildlife veterinary diagnostic labouratory and rehabilitation facility; the education and empowerment of local peoples in the sustainable utilization of indigenous resources through active involvement in conservation training and community outreach programs.
