SUPPORT FOCUS: Veterinary Rescue
www.tikkihywoodtrust.org The IAPF has been in close collabouration with the Tikki Hywood Trust since 2010, providing small grants of up to $1000 for the purchase of veterinary drugs. The Tikki Hywood Trust has also provided guidance to the IAPF for key startegic decisions within ZImbabwe. The Tikki Hywood Trust is a non-profit charitable organisation offering a fresh and positive contribution to Zimbabwean conservation. The Tikki Hywood Trust fills a niche that is often overlooked in wildlife conservation, and that is the preservation of species that lack the charisma and appeal of the larger, more publicised rare animals. Through the formation of the Trust, the smaller, lesser known and often more endangered, wild species of animals are given a voice. Little is known about the life patterns of these smaller animals, as there have been few or no studies on these species, leaving us in a very fragile position to ensure their survival. The Tikki Hywood Trust uses the principles outlined by the IUCN re-introduction specialist group as a basis for assessing which animals to focus on and where and when to re-introduce them to the wild.
